Event: The Ins and Outs of Interdisciplinary Research

| September 15, 2010

The Department of Arts and Humanities welcomes you to the first of a series of events exploring the nature of interdisciplinary research as it occurs within our department and across the college.

William Gaudelli (Associate Professor of Social Studies and Education) and Megan Laverty (Associate Professor of Philosophy and Education) will be discussing the following topics in reference to an article that they are in the process of co-authoring:

• The nature of interdisciplinary work in general
• The process of writing a manuscript for publication
• The challenges of writing a piece with multiple authors
• The nature in interdisciplinary research in the humanities

These events will also be an occasion for students from different programs to meet and develop interdisciplinary projects of their own (including organizing reading groups, conference proposals, or co-authored papers).

The event will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22 in 279 Grace Dodge Hall. Light refreshments will be provided.

If you have any further questions feel free to email Scott Wylie (ssw2126@columbia.edu), Aviv Cohen (aac2144@columbia.edu), or Michael Schapira (mis2126@columbia.edu).
