Educator Conference at Whitney Museum

Educator Conference at Whitney Museum

Saturday, April 2
8:30 am–12:30 pm

Art, Social Studies, and English Language Arts teachers from middle and high schools are invited to register for our first Educator Conference. Organized in conjunction with the exhibition Glenn Ligon: AMERICA, this half-day conference will focus on the role of the artist as a critic of American history, politics, and contemporary culture.

The conference will include a guided tour of the exhibition before the Museum opens to the public and opportunities to explore interdisciplinary connections with colleagues. Professor Olivia Gude, artist and educator at the University of Illinois, Chicago; and Jacqueline Woodson, award winning author of books for children and young adults, will then lead a panel discussion on how they address challenging issues faced by our youth today.

Conference fee is $30 per teacher; breakfast and educator pass are included. Register by March 23.
